Applicant for international protection
An applicant for international protection is, in accordance with Article 2, paragraph 5 of the Asylum Act, a foreigner who has asked the Czech Republic for international protection. The submission of the application starts the procedure during which the decision will be made as to whether or not the foreigner will be granted international protection.
During the procedure, or the period of judical proceedings on appeal against the administrative decision, the foreigner has a status of applicant for international protection. The status of applicant for international protection is terminated either by a positive decision on granting international protection or a negative decision, after which the return to the country of origin should follow. International protection may have the form of Asylum or subsidiary protection.
