Recognition for the purpose of employment

If you intend to perform a regulated profession you need to meet certain requirements such as a level of education, professional experience, medical health, etc.

In the directory of regulated professions provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport you can discover if your profession is regulated or not.

The Act on the Recognition of Professional Qualification applies to:

1. 1. nationals of member states of European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss Confederation and their family members
2. 2. foreign nationals who may permanently reside in the territory of the Czech Republic based on a permit for permanent residence and their family members
3. 3. Third Country Nationals (TCN) who may permanently reside in the EEA, Swiss Confederation of EU member states or have a permit for residence for the purpose of scientific research and their family members with a permit for long-term residence
4. 4. foreign nationals who may permanently reside in the territory of the Czech Republic based on a decision awarding asylum or subsidiary protection
5. 5. Third Country Nationals who may reside in the territory of the Czech Republic or other member state of EU based on a permit for residence for purpose of study, study exchange, unremunerated training or voluntary service.
6. 6. Third Country Nationals who are victims of human trafficking or have been subject to an action to facilitate illegal immigration and have been granted residence in the territory of the Czech Republic or other member state of EU for this purpose
7. 7. holders of a blue card that obtained their qualification in an EU member state

Recognition of education and qualification for the performance of regulated professions in the scheme under the Act on Recognition of Professional Qualifications is called recognition of professional qualification or professional recognition (hereinafter the professional recognition).

The competence for performance of certain professions is not only proved by a submission of formal education but can also be proved, for example, by professional experience. In the case of some professions, additional conditions may need to be fulfilled, such as proof of medical fitness or proof of integrity, which must be submitted to be allowed to perform the profession.

The required competences and ways of assessment for each regulated profession is to be found in the directory of regulated professions. The requirements vary for each of the regulated professions.

If the Act on Recognition of Professional Qualification doesn't apply to you, it is necessary to prove your professional qualification though documents (evidence) of completed education and professional experience. Documents of secondary and higher (not university) education need to be recognized by the regional authority (nostrifikace). The documents of university education needs to be recognised by the Czech university.
